MedInformatix
Named Winner of MS-HUG
Each
year during the HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems
Society) meeting Microsoft announces the current year’s MS-HUG
award winners.
The awards recognize healthcare organizations and individuals
who exhibit the best use of Microsoft-based products, as well
as independent software vendors.
MedInformatix
has been a nominee for the past seven years with a previous win
in 1999. This year again, MedInformatix brought home a win in
the category of Ambulatory Care – Clinical/Patient Information
Systems. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Jerry Sheward from
Behavioral Corp in Indiana who was in attendance to speak directly
to judges about his practice’s positive experience with not only
the ability to customize the MedInformatix software but also the
ease of implementation.

The
Wait is Over...
Version
6.0 is ready for release
The
highly anticipated release of version 6.0 is here. Clients began
updating to the latest version in June. Version 6.0 offers many
new enhancements requested by clients throughout the last year.
From the first login screen all the way to collection follow
up features have been added to keep MedInformatix on top of
the market. Upgrading is a major benefit for any practice especially
those currently using the electronic medical record. Many changes
have been made in document storage, scanning, print servers,
auto faxing and with HTML versions of QAs, Questionnaires and
Trees there is much more flexibility. For those practices concerned
with staying on the cutting edge of technology when it comes
to referring physicians, there is even a brand new Referring
Physician Web Access. This module allows referring physicians
to monitor their own profiles, request appointments, view patient
appointment status and specified electronic medical record documents
all through the internet.
There are so many enhancements it is difficult to list them
all; however, a sample list of features is located on page 2.
A complete listing is available on the acentec.com web site.
For information or to schedule your practice’s update, please
contact acentec, inc. at the Irvine, CA office toll free at
800-970-0402 or email info@acentec.com.

Version
6.0 Features |
Workflow
View
-
Menu buttons have been moved from the top of
the Workflow View to the left side of the screen. This allows
for the practice to define alerts at the top of the screen,
e.g. “You’ve Got Mail” or “You’ve Got Stat Orders”.
-
There is now user control over column positions. The column
changes will be saved for each user. The views which have
this capability are: Appointment List, Master List, Messages
View, Orders View, Patient Work List, Rooms List, Authorization
Review, Authorization Request View, Patient List, Collections
Detail View and Collection Queue.
-
The reports that are available in various windows using the
Printer Icon now go to the MedReports module. This allows
for custom reporting by each practice.
- The
Authorizations Review window has been modified significantly
with the addition of filters such as Procedure Status, Patient
Type, Payer and Facility. The view was changed to include
more information about the appointment, status, and referral.
An easier way to edit the Authorization has been provided
from this window.
-
The Working Patient List was changed to (a) allow it to be
auto-populated based upon a query from the Query Wizard, and
(b) to allow the updating of a status flag to mark an item
as done with a color change to green background. “To do” lists
can now be assigned to specific users on the system.
Scheduling
-
Setting of appointments for a past date may now be blocked.
-
The Books View now allows up to twelve appointment books to
be displayed simultaneously.
-
Colors can be assigned to slots in Books View and Week View.
The purpose of the colors are to remind users when certain
appointment types are desired for particular slots, without
having to try booking an appointment first.
-
Appointment Reason setup has been enhanced so that there are
now 16 Preferred time ranges, instead of the original 4.
- A
new Tagging feature allows the optional “Double Tagging” of
appointments. This means that the patient can be tagged the
first time as “Arrived” and tagged a second time as “Ready
for Service”.
-
The Appointment Wizard functions have been changed to now
allow books from any facility to be included in a particular
search. It also allows for the selection of specific days.
Demographics
-
The Demographics window underwent a major interface change.
The new window is larger and contains the guarantor information
and Special Info data.
-
Additional changes: patient and insured name fields increased
in size, full middle name field, suffix and mobile phone were
added and the ability to select the patient employer from
a table rather than a free type field.
Billing
-
The Line Item Payments window now shows all the active Denial
Codes at one time.
-
The Claim Episode window has been expanded with additional
information for support of Medicare Part A claims.
-
In the Transaction History (Payments) window, there is now
a new Episode Filter which allows one to filter charges by
Episode number. The service date is also shown for easy reference.
Line Item Notes and an Account Note button were also added.
Account Notes may be set to display user and date.
- Entering/Managing
Credentials has been simplified through the use of a new Credentials
Setup.
- The
Add Charge window from Bills has been modified so that the
Facility and Rendering Provider(s) now appear before the CPT
code.
- Batch
Payment Entry has been improved to allow the entry of secondary
payments from the selected payer.
- The
Collection View notes area, and Billing window billing alerts
area can now display the text using MIML formatting.
- The
Collection Queue Management window now allows selection of
multiple rows at one time. This allows for batch assigning
of queues, regeneration, and deletion.
-
In Collection Detail View and Create Collection Queue windows,
the Denial Code selection box has been modified to now include
“[Any Denial Codes]”.
